Free Beachvolley in The Hague

Playing beachvolley matches with different partners, without the need to arrange enough players, and only play when you want to. Once a week we organise Free Beach and anyone who wants can subscribe per event.

Free Beach in 2024

For who

Free Beach is for beachvolley players that love to play matches and/or want to improve playing matches.

We play indoor beachvolley on top courts in a warm hall, to have the good beachvolley vibe. The matches are mostly 2x2 mixed men / women. The level is Advanced, but ambitious intermediate players are also welcome. Same as expert players that will take it easy.

How to join

Register using the whatsapp group. In the whatsapp group you can sign up per event. To get to the group please first send a mail with a short introduction about yourself to ✉.

The whatsapp group is also used for communication about Free Beach and also for example to share photos. We do the organization and rent the hall. You only pay per event that you sign up. Note that you pay in advance.

FAQ

How to get to the Whatsapp group?

Send a mail with short introduction about yourself to mail@BeachvolleybalDenHaag.nl. Do not panic if it takes some days before you are added.

Do we play 2x2?

Yes, normally we do play 2x2, but if everyone wants to play 3x3 that's okay, it is free beach. Also, if all want to play king-of-the-court, or dog-house, that is also okay.

Men, women, mixed?

It is just what shows up. You play with whoever you like or how it turns out.

Are the matches to 21?

That is up to you! A general rule can be to play to 21 points when you are with 4 on a court, and play to 15 points when with 5, so the wait time is short.

Why is there a maximum number of players?

We booked the courts for the whole season. Per court there are 4 players and a maximum of 1 waiting player. If the success is overwhelming then for next season we can book more courts.

Why not limit to 4 players per court?

With years of experience we know there are always some late for some reason. That can block playing matches when players are missing. With spare people the matches can continue, the later players can join in the next match. Occasionaly someone gets injured, then it is also an advantage to have spare players.

How are teams composed?

Just choose someone to play with. Let's make it a social event and a fair play.

How do you decide who is waiting?

That is up to you. Just make it a social event and a fair play.

Do you do a warming up?

As short as possible. It is best to arrive some minutes before it starts and do your warming up aside the courts.

Do you rotate court every 7 points?

No, that is a waste of time. Overall there is no advantage in side for indoor beachvolley.

Is this an initiative of the Beachvolleybalschool?

No, this is a private initiative, but we have warm connections.

Why only 1.5 hours on Sunday evening?

We wanted a time after diner and not too late and where the hall has courts free, and we didn't want it too exhaustive. For most players 1,5 hours is good. Also we think 10 euro p.p. is a perfect price and that limits it, because renting the Zuiderpark beach hall is quit expensive.

Can you win a price?

No. If you want to play for winning, then we recommend to join a tournament. The Agenda shows a list of tournaments.

Can I pay by cash?

Yes, then announce in the app group that you sign up and that you will pay by cash at Free Beach.

Why pay in advance?

That is to be sure that you really want to sign up. Imagine 8 players sign up and 1 decides to not show up, then you end up with 7 unhappy players because of less playing time.

I did pay, but can not make it. Do I get a refund?

No. Try to arrange someone else and handle the costs with him/her. It is important that we have enough players. See also the previous question.

Can I join as a beginner?

For beginners it is best to first do one or more years training before starting with beachvolley matches. See this link for information about training courses beachvolley in The Hague.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes, we like it when more players join the matches. Please note the requirement for level Advanced or several years Intermediate.

How do I know what Advanced level is?
